Community Guidelines
Version 2.0 · Effective August 2, 2026
Rider's Route exists because motorcycling is better when riders share their knowledge, their favourite roads and their enthusiasm for two-wheeled travel. This community is built by riders, for riders — weekend tourers, daily commuters and seasoned adventurers alike.
These Guidelines are not here to be restrictive. They are here to protect what we are building together: a welcoming, honest and safe place for motorcyclists of every background and level of experience.
1.Where these Guidelines apply
They apply to everything you post anywhere in the Services — rides, routes, comments, reviews, photos, bios, usernames and every other field — in the mobile app and in the public route catalogue on the website.
By using the Services you agree to follow them. They are incorporated into and form part of our Terms & Conditions.
2.What we expect
Approach every interaction with respect, honesty and care for other people's safety. In practice:
- Be respectful. Treat other riders the way you would want to be treated on the road. Disagreement is normal; harassment and personal attacks are not.
- Be accurate. When you share a route, leave a review or describe road conditions, make it as accurate and current as you reasonably can. Misleading information about a road can put another rider in danger.
- Be lawful. Share only content you have the right to share, and only routes that are legal to ride. Do not use the Services to facilitate or encourage illegal activity.
- Respect other riders' privacy. Never share or misuse another rider's personal information without their explicit permission — name, location, vehicle details or licence plate.
3.Prohibited content
None of the following is permitted anywhere in the Services.
Illegal activity
Content that promotes, facilitates or depicts criminal activity — theft, drug use, vehicle crime or any other unlawful conduct — and using the Services to arrange or promote illegal gatherings.
Hate, harassment and violence
Content targeting individuals or groups on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other protected characteristic. Personal harassment, threats, intimidation and coordinated pile-ons. Graphic violence, or content designed to shock or to harm.
Sexual content
Sexually explicit material and nudity. Any sexualised content involving minors is illegal, will be removed immediately, and will be reported to the competent authorities.
Dangerous and illegal riding
Motorcycling carries risk and riders push themselves — that is part of the culture. But content that encourages or glorifies clearly illegal riding is not welcome: street racing at illegal speeds, riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs, evading law enforcement, or dangerous manoeuvres in public spaces that endanger other road users.
Spam, scams and deception
Unsolicited commercial messages and promotions. Fake reviews, fabricated route information, and content designed to deceive. Impersonating another user, a public figure or a brand.
Intellectual property infringement
Reproducing copyrighted maps, photographs, route data or other material without the rights holder's permission.
Doxxing and misuse of personal data
Posting, sharing or threatening to share another rider's personal information without consent — name, home address, phone number, licence plate or any other identifying detail.
Licence plates are particularly sensitive. They must never be published, compiled or used as a means of identifying or harassing another rider.
4.Routes, reviews and comments
Routes and reviews are the backbone of this community. To keep them genuinely useful and trustworthy:
- Post routes that are real, legal to ride and honestly described, with accurate information about road type, difficulty and any known hazards.
- Write reviews reflecting your genuine, first-hand experience. Fake reviews — positive or negative — undermine the community and are prohibited.
- Do not use reviews or comments to settle personal disputes. If you have a grievance, use the reporting tools or contact us directly.
- Keep comments relevant and constructive. Off-topic promotion, abuse and repeated low-quality comments may be removed.
Remember that a route you publish may appear in the public catalogue on the website, where anyone can read it and search engines can index it.
5.Reporting content or a user
If you see something that breaches these Guidelines, our Terms, or the law, report it:
- A route, ride or piece of content — tap the menu icon on the item and choose Report.
- A user — open their profile and choose Report User.
- Anything requiring a fuller explanation, or content you consider illegal — email contact@ridersroute.app.
Telling us why you are reporting something helps us respond faster. Reports are confidential: the person reported is not told who reported them.
Notices about illegal content
Anyone — not only registered users — may notify us of content they consider illegal, under Article 16 of the Digital Services Act. Section 8 of the Terms & Conditions sets out what to include in such a notice and what happens next.
6.Blocking other users
You can block any user at any time from their profile. Once blocked:
- they can no longer see your profile, rides or content;
- their content no longer appears in your feed;
- they cannot follow you, send you salutes, or interact with your content.
Blocking manages your own experience; it is not a report. If you believe someone is breaching these Guidelines, please report them as well.
7.Enforcement
Rider's Route S.R.L. moderates this community and takes these Guidelines seriously. Depending on how serious and how repeated a breach is, we may:
- remove the content;
- restrict its visibility;
- issue a warning to the account holder;
- suspend the account temporarily;
- terminate the account permanently.
Serious breaches — content involving child safety, threats of violence, or organised harassment — lead to immediate permanent termination and may be referred to law enforcement.
You will be told why, and you can contest it
Whenever we act against your content or your account, we give you a statement of reasons explaining what was affected, the ground we relied on, whether automated means were involved, and how to contest the decision. This is required of us by Article 17 of the Digital Services Act.
If you think we got it wrong, reply to that statement or email contact@ridersroute.app within six months, with the subject line “Enforcement Appeal”. We will review the decision and reverse it if it was mistaken. The full procedure, including the limits of our obligations as a micro-enterprise, is in section 8 of the Terms & Conditions.
Context matters and we try to act fairly and consistently, but we do not always get it right — which is exactly why the route above exists.
8.Contact
For questions about these Guidelines, to report a problem, or to appeal an enforcement decision: Rider's Route S.R.L., contact@ridersroute.app.
